President's Message

It was great to see everyone last weekend at Game Night - I'm so grateful to our wonderful hosts Diana and Chris Jarvis for reviving this great tradition. Thanks to Victor for bringing the dinosaurs to the party - I'm glad we all left with our fingers and toes intact. I can't wait until the next one to try and reclaim my dominos superiority back from Christine Pinney! I'm looking forward to our second evening meeting this week at the Great Wall restaurant. It should be a little quieter than our first very successful gathering last month. I hope most of you can join us. Finally, our Hope for the Hungry team is working hard to plan our best meal packing event ever. If you have ideas about recruiting sponsors or volunteers, please let us know. In the meantime, everybody keep up your positive attitudes and smiles - Spring is just around the corner!

A Message from Terrence Parker

As you may know, a group of my mother's friends and former coworkers helped to establish a scholarship fund with the Citizens Scholarship Foundation ("CSF") in 2001. This scholarship has been given out each and every year since then. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Bedford Metco Program. It is certainly a fitting time to try to raise funds to increase this scholarship. I have been in contact with CSF to let them know about this effort. I want to set a lofty goal of $50,000 over this next year ($1,000 per Metco year).

The scholarship funds can be submitted online through the following link Donate Now | CSF of Bedford Dollars for Scholars (givelively.org) listing the Irene Parker Memorial Scholarship in the Tribute or Scholarship Name box.

Or you can mail check(s) to: CSF of Bedford Dollars for Scholars P.O. Box 585 Bedford, MA 01730 with a notation on the check for the Irene Parker Memorial Scholarship.

CSF has agreed to make sure the additional donations ( earmarked "Irene Parker") are added to the Principal of the Irene Parker Scholarship and a list of names will be kept.

Please feel free to share and/or call with questions or issues.

RYLA Deadline Extended

The deadline for RYLA applications was extended to March 3rd at 8pm. Please encourage any Bedford sophomores that you know to apply!
News from the Club
Hope for the Hungry: Save the Dates!… Spread the Word!

Mark your calendars.

Tuesday, April 2nd - Ken’s N.Y. Deli & Pizzeria will be generously hosting a fundraiser to support Bedford Rotary’s Hope for the Hungry meal packaging effort aimed at addressing food insecurity locally. Ken’s, located at 72 The Great Road in Bedford, is donating 10% of all proceeds from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m., eat-in and take-out, to this year’s packaging project.

Plan that evening’s dinner at Ken’s. Bring the family and friends. Order take-out. You’ll be supporting Rotary, helping the hungry and food insecure who struggle to feed themselves and their families, and you’ll be supporting a worthy local business.

Saturday, April 27th – at its Bedford campus from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00, Middlesex Community College hosts the Hope for the Hungry meal packaging event. And, with the event just two months away, Bedford Rotary’s event team is ramping up the necessary planning and preparations. Read on to learn how you can get involved by donating or volunteering.
